Enjoy Traditional Treats for King’s Coronation - Blog Header ImageVisitors to the National Stone Centre (NSC) in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, will be able to celebrate the King’s Coronation with a classically English afternoon tea, served all day on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May. Table bookings are required with availability between 10am – 4pm.

As part of celebrations for the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, the National Stone Centre Cafe will be appropriately decorated to mark the occasion. Delicious cream teas for two, consisting of traditional British savoury and sweet treats washed down with tea or coffee, will be served throughout the weekend. FREE crafts activities for children will also be available.

The event has been organised by the Institute of Quarrying (IQ), which acquired the National Stone Centre just over 18-months-ago. It was recently confirmed that Derbyshire Dales District Council unanimously recommended approval for the £6.5m plans for the construction of a new and reimagined National Stone Centre at the current site.

James Thorne, IQ, says: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming the local community to the National Stone Centre to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. Alongside a delicious selection of afternoon tea, with fresh cakes, scones and sausage rolls all baked on-site, and crafts activities available for younger people, visitors can take a look at the plans we have in place for the site with information available to read and see on boards in the cafe.”

Advance bookings are required for afternoon tea. A party of two costs £15. Make a booking by calling 07932 414624 or emailing nsc@nationalstonecentre.org.uk.
