Dinosaur egg hunt/quiz - Tuesday 10 April

Coloured eggsA dinosaur egg hunt/quiz for children will take place at the National Stone Centre from 10 am to 4 pm and will depart from the Discovery Centre at the National Stone Centre, Wirksworth.

Prices:
£1.50 per child taking part
Free mini egg for every participant plus lots of prizes

Regular events - Summer

NSC Trail

Every Wednesday from 25 July to 29 August (inclusive)

Section of the Millennium WallThis is a guided trail of the National Stone Centre site taking in lead mines, lime kilns, ancient tropical reefs, quarries and the Millennium Wall. Children can find fossil clues in the rocks, proving that the Wirksworth area was once under the sea.

The trail departs from the Discovery Centre at the National Stone Centre at 2.00pm and lasts for about one hour.

Prices:
Each child taking part £1.50
(children under under the age of three and accompanying adults free of charge)
Unaccompanied adults £2.00

All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.



Dene Quarry Walk

Every Tuesday from 24 July to 28 August (inclusive)

Dump truck at Dene QuarryThis is a guided walk through nature reserves and lead mines to a working quarry. The trail covers natural and industrial history of the area and explains how a modern quarry operates. The trail departs from the Discovery Centre at the National Stone Centre at 2.00pm and lasts for about two hours.

Prices:
Adults £2.50
Students and Concessions £1.50 (Not suitable for children under 11 years old)

This walk will follow public footpaths that can be uneven and steep, so sturdy walking footwear is advised.
