Discovery Centre at the National Stone Centre

The Discovery Centre at the National Stone Centre contains the 'Story of Stone' exhibition, and the 'Treasure in the Rocks' shop. There is also a café area with inside and outside seating. Disabled parking is available to the side of the Discovery Centre.

Story of Stone exhibition

This is an indoor exhibition illustrating every aspect of stone from molten rock through to current environmental debate. Free (differentiated) quiz sheets are available if required.

The 'Treasure in the Rocks' shop in the Discovery Centre is an Aladdin’s Cave of minerals, fossils, crystals, souvenirs, books and trail guides.

Cakes available at the snack bar at the Discovery CentreCafé area

Tea and coffe, snacks, soft drinks and ice cream can be purchased from the Discovery Centre. Visitors can sit inside or at tables under shelter outside. Larger groups can picnic outside the Discovery Centre or use their coach if the weather is unsuitable. Toilets are also available here.

Disabled and less able visitors

disabled logoThere is a designated parking area for less mobile visitors situated adjacent to the Discovery Centre (follow the road under the bridge) giving level access to the Discovery Centre and activity areas.
