Ian Thomas

Director, National Stone Centre
Previously with Derbyshire County Planning Department (Strategic Mineral Planning), and the Institute of Geological Sciences (now British Geological Survey - BGS). Also previously on BGS Programme Board and chairman of Earth Science Teachers Association.
Currently chair of Standing Joint Committee on Natural Stones and president of the East Midlands Geological Society. Technical secretary of East Midlands Aggregate Working Party; convenor of Regional Aggregates Working Party Secretaries (England and Wales). Family background in printing and quarrying.

Rod Tippett

Education Officer and ICT advisor, National Stone Centre (until Oct 2003).
Previously ranger at Shipley Country Park, work with special needs children and in engineering.

Carole Blockley

Secretary, National Stone Centre, (until March 2004).
Previously in hospital and college administration.

Sharon Davison

Research Assistant, National Stone Centre (p/t until May 2003).
Previously minerals planning assistant at Peak District National Park Authority and in school administration.
