Activities at the National Stone Centre: Gem Panning, Rocks and Minerals, Fossil Casting, Fossil Rubbing and Soil StudyEducation and Schools

The National Stone Centre offers a varied programme to support school visits.  Students can take part in a number of different activities. School visits can be arranged for any day except Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Schools can select from these activities according to their curriculum needs and the time they have available. The content can be varied to suit all age ranges and ability levels from pre-school to adult. A guided visit to a viewpoint overlooking a working quarry – usually the highpoint of the visit for many students - can also be arranged.

Attractions at the National Stone Centre: Story of Stone Exhibition, Guided Trails, Quarry Visit, Treasure in the Rocks Shop and the Millennium WallSchools can take part in one of our 'Treasure in the Rocks' day events when students can sample several of the activities – these are usually held on Wednesdays but other weekdays may be possible by prior arrangement.

Information for School Groups contains further details of all the activities and more can be found on our activities page.
